Apothecary Cacao Bitters

Product Details

Rooted in the age-old tradition of “Curados”—botanical brandy infusions shared by village elders—this bold, earthy bitter from Cuna de Piedra pays homage to Mexico’s rich herbal heritage.

Crafted from a trio of distinctive bitter elements—cocoa shells from Soconusco’s agroforestry systems, sun-dried cachichín nuts hand-peeled in Veracruz, and Ramón seeds harvested by the women of RUEZ Cooperative in Chetumal—it’s beautifully balanced with the soft, floral aroma of Rosita de Cacao, a delicate blossom gathered by Doña Dionisia García, a Chinantec cook and cocoa grower in La Chinantla, Oaxaca.

A few drops of this complex blend add unexpected depth to cocktails like the Old Fashioned, Manhattan, or Espresso Martini. It’s equally at home elevating Bourbon, Rye, or Rum—or adding nuance to low-ABV creations. A bitter with soul, steeped in story.
